Bowl-shaped tableware produced by Masaki Tomabechi, a Banko-yaki artist active in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture. Deep enough to be used for soup dishes and rice bowls. Also suitable as a rice bowl for those who eat a lot.
Masaki Tomabechi;.
Tomabechi Masaki produces contemporary vessels in white, black and turquoise. Influenced by Indian jewellery, his work is characterised by a technique called 'kannyu', in which ink is poured into cracks created by the difference in shrinkage between the glaze and the clay. The technique produces a pattern similar to the 'spider web' found in turquoise.
