The 990v6 is based on the 990, a model that New Balance set out to develop the pinnacle of running shoes, disregarding time and cost. The 990v6 is the face of New Balance, which advertised itself as "990 on a scale of 1,000," and the 990v6 is now available under the Comme des Garcons name.

For this double name, two colors are produced in the monochrome one-tone specifications synonymous with COMME des GARCONS. It is a pair that can be called the culmination of the double name that has continued every season.
