■Product Details. This is a Hinaga fan made from Ise cotton. As you use it, the thread becomes softer and feels better to the touch, giving it a very nice texture. Please use it with care for a long time. A wonderful illustration with Mie Prefecture as a motif is included. Hinaga fan... As seen in the murals of Takamatsuzuka Tumulus, fans are used to protect people from wind, light, and dust, and to hide their faces. It was first introduced as a decorative item from China to Korea, and was first used by aristocrats during the Nara period. During the Sengoku period, it was also used as a guard for military commanders. Handmade bamboo fans are made from the shape of the handle, Broadly speaking, there are three types: ``Hirae'', ``Sashie'', and ``Marue''. A ``hiragara'' is a fan that is made by splitting a large piece of bamboo and carving it flat, and has a flat part to hold. Flat-handled fans are mainly made in Marugame, Shikoku. In the case of “saga”, the fan surface and handle are made separately. This fan is made by arranging thin bones one by one in a radial pattern and adding a handle afterwards. Sashimi fans are mainly made in Kyoto. The last item I would like to mention is the ``maru pattern'', which is made using round bamboo as it is. Hinaga Uchiwa is this round patterned fan (Marutake Uchiwa). The handle is round as it is made from a single thin piece of bamboo. It fits well in your hand and feels cool and comfortable when you hold it. Also, the same bamboo used for fishing rods is used, which is cut into small pieces. The bamboo is woven alternately into bag-like shapes, making the bamboo look like a bow. Since three-dimensional bamboo is strung up into a flat fan shape, it is difficult to process and requires a high level of skill. For this reason, it has an indescribably elegant characteristic, with the wind blowing softly. How to create a comfortable breeze... The wind is the lifeblood of a fan. Hinaga Uchiwa is particular about round bamboo, and has continued to maintain a 300-year-old tradition that has been passed down to this day. The bamboo is different, the wind is different, the bending is different Real wind “Hinaga Uchiwa” Ise Momen...
