During the Sengoku period, it was also used as a guard for military commanders. Handmade bamboo fans are made from the shape of the handle, Broadly speaking, there are three types: ``Hirae'', ``Sashie'', and ``Marue''. A ``hiragara'' is a fan that is made by splitting a large piece of bamboo and carving it flat, and has a flat part to hold. Flat-handled fans are mainly made in Marugame, Shikoku. In the case of “saga”, the fan surface and handle are made separately. This fan is made by arranging thin bones one by one in a radial pattern and adding a handle afterwards.
